The Kissinsky Family

The Kissinsky Family is a Vienna-based artists’ collective that was born from a meeting of Satu Herrala, Paul Neuninger and Lieve De Pourcq at a research project The Choreographers’ Venture initiated by Frans Poelstra and Robert Steijn at the Impulstanz -festival in 2005.

The first Kissinsky Family performance project, TellMe & WhoIs by Satu Herrala and Lieve De Pourcq, premiered at the imagetanz 08 -festival in brut Wien.

This is a road performance, so we have to keep going, keep moving – moving through states and states - as fugitives - moving west, south-west, running away from the big big US behind us. On the way, while hitchhiking and hijacking identities, vehicles, aliases - we try to keep up with the memory of those pseudo-feminist travellers who managed to find their ways “from victims of circumstances into outlaw heroines of the road”.

This is a road performance, but we don’t promise you a performance of self-cultivation or a heroic quest. No promise to return home wiser, more experienced, or to return at all. And we don’t promise to courageously embrace our destinies on the road. But we do promise that if nobody looses their head, then nobody looses their head. Let’s see who wins the prize for keeping their cool. You decide!
